I stand before you to speak for the motion that social media is a boon. Social media has become an important part of our daily lives. Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp help us stay connected with family and friends, even when they live far away. Students can use social media to access educational videos, share notes and learn new skills. It also provides a platform for people to express their ideas and spread awareness about important social issues.

However, I agree that social media can be harmful when it is misused. Excessive use can waste our time, affect our studies and create stress. False information and cyberbullying are also serious concerns. But every useful thing needs to be used responsibly. Social media is a boon when used wisely and in moderation.

Therefore, I strongly believe that social media is a boon if we use it responsibly and wisely.

2. Online Education is Better than Traditional Education

I stand before you to speak for the motion that online education is better than traditional education. Online education has changed the way students learn. It also saves travelling time and allows learners to study according to their own pace.

Online classes are especially useful for students who cannot easily reach good educational institutions. The internet provides access to educational videos, digital books and interactive learning tools.

However, traditional classrooms have their own advantages. Face-to-face interaction with teachers and classmates develops communication skills and discipline. Online learning may also lead to distractions and excessive screen time.

Therefore, online education should not completely replace classroom education. Instead, both methods should be combined to provide students with the best learning experience.

In conclusion, online education is a powerful and flexible method of learning and, when used properly, can make education more accessible and effective.

3. Examinations Should Be Abolished

Some students understand concepts very well but fail to perform under examination pressure.

Education should encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving and practical knowledge rather than simply memorising information for a test. Students should be assessed through projects, presentations, assignments, class participation and practical activities as well.

I am not suggesting that students should never be assessed. Assessment is necessary, but one final examination should not decide a student's future. A better education system would evaluate students throughout the year and consider different types of abilities.

Therefore, examinations in their present form should be replaced by a broader and more balanced system of assessment.

4. Artificial Intelligence: Helpful or Harmful

I stand before you to speak for the motion that Artificial Intelligence is helpful to society. Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is rapidly changing our world. It helps doctors detect diseases, assists students in learning, supports scientists in research and makes many everyday tasks easier. AI can analyse huge amounts of information in a very short time and can help people solve complex problems.

In education, AI can provide explanations, practice questions and personalised learning support. In industries, it can perform dangerous tasks and improve efficiency.

Of course, AI also has risks. It may be misused to spread false information, invade privacy or replace certain jobs. Students may also become dependent on AI instead of developing their own thinking skills.

However, these problems can be controlled through proper rules, responsible use and human supervision. Technology itself is neither good nor bad; its impact depends on how humans use it.

Therefore, AI should not be feared. It should be used wisely as a tool to improve human life while keeping human judgment at the centre.

5. Mobile Phones Should Be Allowed in Schools

Mobile phones can also be useful in emergencies. They allow students to communicate with their parents when necessary.

However, unrestricted use of mobile phones can distract students. Games, social media and unnecessary messages can interfere with learning. There is also a risk of misuse during examinations.

The solution is not to completely ban mobile phones but to establish clear rules. Phones can be kept switched off during lessons unless the teacher permits their use for educational purposes.

Therefore, I believe mobile phones should be allowed in schools, but only with proper supervision and responsible use.
