What is a point?
Answer: A point represents an exact position in space. It has no size.
Example: A dot marked on paper is called point A. -
What is a line?
Answer: A line is a straight path that extends endlessly in both directions.
Example: The edge of a ruler represents a line. -
What is a line segment?
Answer: A line segment is a part of a line with two fixed endpoints.
Example: The line joining points A and B is written as AB. -
What is a ray?
Answer: A ray starts at one point and extends infinitely in one direction.
Example: Sunlight coming from the sun can be thought of as rays. -
What is an angle?
Answer: An angle is formed when two rays meet at a common point (vertex).
Example: The corner of a book forms an angle. -
What are the types of angles?
Answer:
- Acute angle: less than 90° (e.g., 45°)
- Right angle: exactly 90°
- Obtuse angle: more than 90° but less than 180° (e.g., 120°)
- Straight angle: exactly 180°

What is a triangle?
Answer: A triangle is a polygon with three sides and three angles.
Example: A triangle with sides 3 cm, 4 cm, and 5 cm. -
What is the sum of the angles of a triangle?
Answer: The sum of all interior angles in a triangle is 180°.
Example: 60° + 70° + 50° = 180°. -
What is a quadrilateral?
Answer: A quadrilateral is a polygon with four sides.
Example: Rectangle, square, trapezium. -
What is the sum of interior angles of a quadrilateral?
Answer: The sum is 360°.
Example: 90° + 80° + 100° + 90° = 360°. -
What is a rectangle?
Answer: A rectangle is a quadrilateral with opposite sides equal and all angles 90°.
Example: A book or a door shape. -
What is a square?
Answer: A square is a quadrilateral with all sides equal and all angles 90°.
Example: A chessboard square. -
What is a circle?
Answer: A circle is a set of points that are all at the same distance from a center.
Example: A coin. -
What is the radius of a circle?
Answer: The distance from the center to any point on the circle.
Example: If the radius is 5 cm, every point on the circle is 5 cm from the center. -
What is the diameter of a circle?
Answer: A line passing through the center connecting two points on the circle.
Example: If radius = 5 cm, diameter = 10 cm. -
What is perimeter?
Answer: The total distance around a shape.
Example: A square with side 4 cm → Perimeter = 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 16 cm. -
What is area?
Answer: The space inside a shape.
Example: A square of side 4 cm has area = 16 cm². -
What is the formula for the area of a rectangle?
Answer:
Example: If length = 6 cm and breadth = 3 cm, area = 18 cm². -
What is the formula for the area of a triangle?
Answer:
Example: If base = 8 cm and height = 5 cm, area = 20 cm². -
What is the Pythagorean Theorem?
Answer:
Example: If a = 3 cm and b = 4 cm, then c = 5 cm.
